The first rendition of my ‘Design Process Diagram’.

During our first term of University we were asked to create a diagram that represented our ‘Design Process’. We’d already been looking at the different steps that generally summarise the process (such as Define, Research, Propose, Generate etc), but now we were tasked with summising this in a diagram.

The illustration above is what I produced as my outcome, focusing on the idea that there isn’t one specific route to a final design, and is instead more of a maze that a creative has to stumble through, often having to backtrack or retrace their steps. I wanted to show that although there can be activities and set points to help you along, there isn’t one method or technique that fits all, and the design process is something that will be solved different by different creatives.
