MOONLIT VILLAGE

A4   /   0.05 Unipin Fineliner   /   December 2019

This was completed as a commission in 2019, and was whilst I was still finding footing in my illustration ‘style’. Whilst the penwork is familiar, the way I coloured this piece is different to the technique that I have now settled on. It isn’t something I hate, but I do find it less preferable.

There’s a lot I’d retroactively change about this illustration, and a lot I think I could do better now. I think it would be more effective if I had tapered out the village into the hillside more gradually, and I don’t think the penwork on the moon necessarily matches the penwork in the rest of the drawing, but to say that this piece served as a stepping stone to get to where I am now I think it still holds up on its own.
