The aim for this illustration was to create an illustration that would be suitable for the front of a birthday card, whilst also staying true to myself as an Illustrator. I didn’t want to create any old generic image, so I tried to find an interesting take on the idea of a birthday illustration.

I ended up focusing on the idea of soft play areas since it’s quite personal and nostalgic to myself, yet I also think it’s familiar to a lot of different people of different ages around the UK. Whether you be a child or a parent, the card can remind you of the hustle and bustle, as well as the sticky surfaces, of childrens birthday parties!
